Pastor James M. Woods Sr., is a charismatic leader, servant of God, father, and husband. He accepted Christ as his savior at the tender age of 17. Upon completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 2 years of active duty and 6 years of inactive reserve. After returning home in 1996, he became an actively involved member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama where he served faithfully as a deacon, accepted his call into the ministry, and began his pastoral career.

In 2011, the Lord increased His favor upon Pastor and Lady Woods by giving them a vision for a new ministry in the City of Demopolis. Pastor and Lady Woods started The Life of Abundance Worship Center which has touched and effectively changed the lives of numerous people for the glory of God. Through careful prayer, thought, and direction from the Lord, Pastor Woods placed himself under the leadership of his spiritual father, Bishop Effell Williams Sr. who is the founder and Pastor of Tabernacle of Praise in Selma, Alabama. In July of 2021, in obedience to God, Pastor James Woods, Sr., answered the call to become Senior Pastor of the Saint Paul Baptist Church, Inc., Demopolis, Alabama. For the first time in the history of the City of Demopolis, Pastor Woods united two churches, Life of Abundance Worship Center and Saint Paul Baptist Church.

Today, they operate as one under the body of Christ. He is currently enrolled at Liberty University where he is studying Biblical Studies. Pastor Woods’ vision for the Saint Paul Baptist Church is to be a fully engaged and active 21st century church where it touches the City of Demopolis and the surrounding areas. The mission of the Saint Paul Baptist Church is to advance the gospel at least 100 years from where we are now by continuing to stand on God’s principles through community outreach.

Pastor Woods is married to Lady Youlanda Woods. They are the proud parents of four beautiful children, Brianna, James Jr., Jordan, and Zion. They are also the guardians of three beautiful children, their nieces and nephews, Cody and Leah Hinton, and Autymn Walker.
